Star Noir Photography consists of a main photographer — Chastidyi — and several fabulous associate photographers who work on smaller local weddings. We provide a semi-posed/photojournalistic style of photography.
Our Manifesto: We dance in the rain. We believe that LOVE is the most powerful force in the universe. We think that home grown and hand-made are more valuable than mass-produced. We find happiness in the small things like being barefoot in the cool grass on a hot summer day. We craft memories for people who enjoy being different, and we give them the warm and fuzzies by providing them with future family heirlooms. We know that our quirkiness will mean more fun for you, and we always return phone calls, texts, and emails within 48 hours. We travel to you wherever you are even if we need an interpreter. We adore being around couples that are deeply in love, and we showcase that in our work. We want our clients to feel beautiful and special to walk away from their sessions thinking, Oh my God! I totally rocked that!
ABOUT CHASTIDYI
Hi! I’m Chastidyi, the photographer, and Star Noir Studio is my passion and obsession. I’m going to throw a whole bunch of information at you because I think it is important for you to have an idea of my personality before you choose to work with me–we will be spending a lot of time together on one of the most important days of your life!!
I was born in 1983, I’m married to the most wonderful man in the world, and I have 10 furbabies: 8 cats and 2 dogs. For as long as I can remember, I have been constantly involved in some sort of creative endeavor. I’ve always felt the need to do something with my hands so I have experimented with a lot of different media like pen and ink, oil paints, acrylic paints, jewelry making, screen printing, and photography to name a few. In fact, I was so drawn to the creative process that I went to college to learn more and walked out of there (mind awash with ideas and much deeper in debt) with a Bachelors Degree in Art. That quickly transitioned to photography, and I found that I LOVE photographing people… the interaction, going different places, and bringing something out in the person they didn’t expect to show. Most especially, I enjoy telling the story of someone’s wedding day…each one is as unique as a snowflake and just as much fun to capture.
I am a cat person from way back. If anything ever happens to Ian, I will probably end up as a crazy cat lady. I am constantly trying to bring home strays, and I just think the little guys are too cute. With no one to constrain me, I might end up with 30!
I love to read. In fact, I often stay up late reading when I should be sleeping instead, but when I get into a good story, it’s hard to put the book down…even when my eyes start tearing up from looking at the pages too long and my head starts drooping. Some of my favorite authors: C.M. Stunich, Laurell K. Hamilton, Anne McCaffrey, Mercedes Lackey, Rosemary Rogers, Stephanie Meyers, Marylyle Rogers, and…well, maybe it would be easier to list the authors I do not like!
I have a very eclectic taste in music. Sometimes, you’ll find me curled up reading with Beethoven on the record player. Other times, I’m head banging to Metallica. Of course, my favorite music is anything I can sing to (just pray you don’t walk in on that, it’s not a pretty sight)!
I like watching things that amuse me or make me think. One of my favorite directors is Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mall Rats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, etc.) because he has been making me laugh since I was in high school. My all-time favorite movies are Princess Bride, Legend, and Labyrinth (I must be a romantic at heart). And, I’ve started trying not to read books before watching the movies (although that isn’t often possible). I get so angry because the movies never live up to the books.
I am a total night owl. I think my circadian rhythms are all jumbled up (or maybe that just keeps happening because I stay up late reading). But, there’s just something about the feel of the night that is fabulous…even the feel of the air and the scents are different.
I’m excited to get to learn more about you!
