I had SOOO much fun with Bethany and John and their absolutely adorable little puppy. We met up at Ijams Nature Center, on a gorgeously green day in June.
We met at Anchor Splash, a fall philanthropy event put on by my sorority, and we’ve been together for three years.
Our first date was a fun trip to Cade’s Cove and Mellow Mushroom in the Great Smoky Mountains.
How did he propose? He took me to my favorite restaurant (P. F. Chang’s! Yummy!) and then to “stargaze” at this place on campus where you can see the stars but you can also see downtown Knoxville. He brought my birthday gift which was a recordable Hallmark book called Under The Same Moon, but it didn’t work without a light on it so he made me read it to him. When I got to the last page, there was a handwritten note from him that I read out loud. When I turned to him, he had a ring made out of gold twisty ties in his hand because like 8 months or so prior I had told him that I would take a twisty tie ring as long as we were together. But he said “I made this way back when we had that conversation, but as our love has grown stronger and more precious I decided that this wasn’t enough.” Then he got on his knee and said “Bethany Margaret Bell, will you marry me?” And opened the box!!! I cried and then said “Yes, of course” AND he had one of his fraternity brothers taking pictures!!!
We love to nerd out! Bring on the Star Wars, Game of Thrones, and Doctor Who!
Beth: I love his never-ending kindness, support, and strength. It could be the worst day and he could turn it around with just a look, an embrace, or his gentle peacefulness.
John: The thing that I love the most about her is the way that her eyes light up every single time I say “I LOVE YOU”. I don’t even need her to say the words back, I can just see the answer in her eyes.
We adopted our puppy from Young Williams Animal Center!
