I think you’ll really like this couple. I know I did! I styled a vintage engagement session for them in a little spot on the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail by the river. We had beautiful weather and a lot of interested bystanders. If you’ve never been there, you should check it out… there are some neat old buildings there, and the nature scenery is breath-taking.
Kerri said that she and Dominick have been watching a lot of 1930s themed movies to get ideas for their wedding, and I tried to bring in that vintage theme with some great yard sale finds I’ve been collecting. They requested a vintage look to some of the photos so you’ll see some sepia toned images with crinkles, creases, and texture below. Be prepared… I’m sharing tons of photos in this post!
They met eight years ago in school, and his first thought when he saw her was how beautiful she is. I can’t say I blame him… look at that gorgeous skin, and those luminous eyes! P.S. They’re getting married tomorrow!
Here are a couple of photos taken by my assistant, Ian.
So… the fishing equipment you see here is all owned by Kerri and Dominick except for the fishing rod. The owner of a vintage store generously allowed them to borrow it for their session.
The pants Dominick is wearing were special ordered, and Kerri’s dress is a vintage find.
This is a take of an image they found on an old postcard that they really liked.
Here, you can see Dominick hamming it up for Kerri’s camera.
I love these!
Here, you can see what we were doing… and then what started walking behind us…
This image is a take off of the traditional vintage photography where everyone always looked so very serious.
If you’ve been to Gatlinburg, Tennessee within the last year, you might recognize where these images were taken… The workers at Ole Smoky Moonshine were kind enough to let us use some of their props for photos. They have a gorgeous vintage ford truck there. Also, the dress Kerri is wearing here is what’s known as a flour sack dress. For those of you who may not know what that is (I certainly didn’t), flour companies used to use different prints on their flour sacks to entice women to buy their brand so they could use the fabric to make clothing. This is an authentic flour sack dress. How neat is that??! I can’t wait to see what she’s found for the wedding!
