I feel so blessed to have been able to work with this couple. Laura is such a sweet person, and she brought so many personal touches into her wedding plans. She got lucky, too… her wedding date should have occurred after the colors on the mountain had started fading. However, because of the weather this past year, she hit the perfect time (what we call Peak Season).
How long have you been together? We have been together for 2 years now, we were together for about 8 months when we got engaged.
What was your first date like? Our first date was, fun. We went to dinner and hit it off right away.
We laughed so much our bellies hurt. It was very relaxed and laid back.
How did he propose? We had talked about getting married for a while before we got engaged. So it wasn’t a surprise, but he got down on his know in our kitchen with the kids watching and proposed, while first grabbing my right hand to try and put the ring on….i of course started laughing as I always do, and corrected him. It was a great moment!
Do you have a song? Our song is “One of those boys” by Lauren Alaina
Why did you choose your wedding date? We chose our wedding date because we both love the fall, so we knew that the colors would be beautiful and the weather still gorgeous in TN. My brother got married the year before in October so I decided on November
Any particular reason for the theme/venue/etc.? We chose to get married in TN because we love the mountains!
Pigeon Forge is the perfect place for the family to come and have a vacation. And really….. is there a more gorgeous place??!!
We had booked our cabins in Brother’s Cove resort, and after the first venue fell through (which I booked before I found BC), we were able to book the lodge at Brother’s Cove and it was even more amazing then i could have imagined. It was gorgeous inside and out and there were many photo opportunities. Myly, the wedding planner was wonderful! This venue gave us the view that we wanted and it was great having the wedding in the same resort that we were staying in.
I wouldn’t have changed anything!! The theme was natural and rustic, nothing fancy, just fall leaves and such 🙂
My favorite thing about my wedding day was walking down the isle with my dad to the man I love. It was a very emotional moment for me. It was the only time I almost cried! LOL
We had several DIY projects–for the center pieces, Brandon cut slices of cedar which sat on burlap circles that we cut out, then I picked live fall leaves right from the resort to lay around the wood.
On top of the cedar, I put antique canning jars with deer corn and a candle inside to burn during the ceremony and reception. Brandon built the cupcake stand out of cedar as well.
The sign that was outside saying “now that they’re together forever, we want you to sit wherever” was made out of old barn boards from Brandon’s grandparent’s house, I wrote on it with chalk. I got the saying from Pintrest. All of the other ideas for the wedding were my own.
If I could do my wedding over again….I wouldn’t change a thing!!
For our honeymoon, we staying in Pigeon Forge for a week in the amazing cabin with my brothers and their wives, then they went home and we went to Alabama for a week to spend time with family and in the mountains. It was very relaxed and perfect.
